Having learned of camping
only through the exploits of
Curious George,
they embarked upon their very first camping trip with excitement.
We hoped their toddler curiosity would lead to fewer incidents than monkey curiosity tends to.
And so, braving a little rain,
they helped us put up the tent
thoroughly enjoyed the boat ride
while others fished,
they opted for "getting lost" in the woods
chasing lizards and squirrels;
picking wildflowers from the soft forest floor
campfire
Sleep.
and
no sleep
Morning fishing
with less idle wandering
And after lunch we made the trip back home,
exhausted but content with our first family foray
into the great outdoors
and, I think,
no less happy for the wear and tear.
