The last activity for our countdown calendar this year was going swimming on Christmas Eve. This may just become an annual tradition since I believe it is a guaranteed way to tire children out, thus avoiding excitement-induced insomnia awaiting Santa's arrival.
Not to mention the fact that it is A LOT of FUN! We scheduled in a 2 hour afternoon jaunt at the Clearfield Aquatic Center. With slides and play centers in shallow water, this pool is perfect for young children. We especially like the mini "lazy river" complete with water "canons" to shoot at each other. Max went down the big slide for the first time and couldn't get enough of it. And because we stayed until the very last closing whistle, we had a good 20 minutes where we were the only ones in the pool. We had the whole thing to ourselves!
Thanks to our third family party of the season, dinner and company awaited us after we'd dried off and by the time we made it back home (close to 8 p.m.) one child had already conked out.
When morning came, we all slept well past 8 a.m!
